Central Plateau Schools, Haiti with the W.K. Kellogg Foundation
Thanks to a grant by the W. K. Kellogg Foundation, SCW has completed a study of the 191 Schools in the Model School Network in the Central Plateau of Haiti, and have written new MSN Minimum School Facility Design Guidelines that will be implemented on all future projects.
Data was collected by SCW Board members Dan Mader, Dr. William DeJong and Chuck Newman, with the assistance of US school planner Kerrianne Wolf and 12 Haitians led by SCW-Haiti director Juan Roberto Asse. As part of that grant, SCW has completed New MSN Minimum School Facility Design Guidelines which will be implemented by the MSN on all future school improvement projects. SCW also documented all data collected on each school in a database that establishes budgets for improvements needed at each school based on the condition of each school and the existing adequacy/over-crowding deficiencies identified at each school. Based on the data collected by SCW, the MSN Board of Directors is currently reviewing SCW suggestions for an initial phase of school facility improvements.
